Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the camp located?

Whale Camp is located on Grand Manan Island, which is small island in the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Canada. Our campus is in Seal Cove, a small fishing village on the southern tip of Grand Manan, but we explore many locations around the island and surrounding ocean during our one week and two week programs!

When do I pick up and drop off my child?

We drive from Grand Manan to Bangor, Maine every Saturday to do pick ups and drop offs for our campers and their families. We can also meet at the ferry terminal in Blacks Harbour, New Brunswick or arrange drop off/pick up on campus upon request!

What should my child bring to camp?

Please see our packing list for a full spectrum of what your camper should have with them for one or two weeks. The weather on the island is highly variable, so make sure your camper is prepared for everything!

Can i Contact my child while they are at camp?

Yes! Although we are a cell phone-free camp, we set aside time every other day for our campers to be able to call home and check in with their families. We also accept emails that we can print out and give to your child as ‘mail’ and are happy to arrange a phone call outside of our regular ‘call home’ times at your request!

Do you accommodate special dietary restrictions and allergies?

We are more than happy to accommodate dietary restrictions such as gluten free/celiac, vegetarian, and vegan, and are diligent in providing meals that are safe for those with food allergies. We are a nut-free camp, so please make sure to double check the ingredients of any snacks your child brings with them!
